I have killed a lot of these twilight plants in my time. I had them indoors one year, where they started September fine and looking like any other houseplant. But, as December stretched into January and February they became drawn and pale, fading into shadows of their former selves, only to keel over when they finally got their early-summer freedom. I have also tried heating the whole greenhouse with an oil heater, so that it glowed at the end of the garden all night long. It worked a treat but filled me with such environmental angst that the following year I tried the "crossing my fingers and hoping for a mild winter" with disastrous results: the massacre of the aeoniums.
